Davccelion Somehow this album makes me nostalgic. My family and I moved to a farm from the city and began an agricultural bussiness, but all around us see how people abandon this kind of life and leave their houses, fields and tractors behind...it's sad, like in the John Deere's song. Favorite track: John Deere 620.

Pat’s voice is on the dial, Haven’t met someone in a while Had to run and hide from it all back up there I can’t go another mile, Just ‘cause I’m in denial I can’t even see the road through all the glare You came when I needed someone special You came with something more than just a care You came with what I didn’t know I needed So meet me at the Arkansas valley fair Even though I’m kind of hopeless You don’t care, then, if you’ve noticed Something a little different for my fare You’re easy on my eyes An undying compromise Your sweater even picked to match your hair You came when I needed someone special You came with something more than just a care You came with what I didn’t know I needed So meet me at the Arkansas valley fair

Some glad morning when this life is o'er I'll fly away To that home on God's celestial shore I'll fly away I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away When I die, Hallelujah, by and by I'll fly away Just a few more weary days and then I'll fly away To that land where joy will never end I'll fly away I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away When I die, Hallelujah, by and by I'll fly away Oh I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away in the morning When I die, Hallelujah, by and by I'll fly away

Up the Lane 02:41
There’s a farm off Hwy 194 You’ll know you’re close when you see the white barn door It’s across the field from the historic fort And a little dirt lane stretches out north My grandfather he cut it Through the plain And while we still got the chance Let’s walk awhile up the lane It took leaving to know To come back home Help from Sergio Leone and Morricone It’s emptier here now Our time here wanes I think i’m kidding myself if it aint already too late I went to the sale In a wood-paneled room Granddad signed it away Like it spelled his doom He could no longer care for it In its needed way The home place and fields, Including the lane My grandfather he cut it Through the plain And while we still got the chance Let’s walk awhile up the lane

about

William Bent once read Bob Dylan's "Nashville Skyline" record described as warm, homey, and folky. "More Modern Sounds in Country & Western Music" is the Bent Brothers' attempt to craft a record that sounds like the best parts of the family farm in the Arkansas Valley of southern Colorado. Striving for a sound that is thoroughly unmodern in country music, it features five tracks inspired by tractors, the 60s, and the West.

"More Modern Sounds in Country & Western Music" was recorded in Westminster and Greenwood Village, Colorado on Cheyenne and Arapaho land.

The Bent Brothers would like to thank their grandparents, Zoe, and all the artists that pointed the way.
